 kingdoms that were united into one kingdom

,The flag shows the grenade emblem of the Christian Kingdom of Granada

Also appears is the emblem of the Bourbon house from which the present dynasty of kings of Spain came


,Above the shield appears a crown of the Kingdom of Spain gilded symbolizing the Spanish Kingdom


On both sides of the shield are columns symbolizing the pillars of Hercules, Gibraltar and Sauta and topped by crowns - one in the crown


Spain and the other in the Crown of the Emperor of Austria, and around them a scroll with the Spanish motto PLVS VLTRA (Latin - more beyond).
